My sister-in-law went skiing recently in the small mountain town of Crested Butte, CO. I’m always on the hunt for coffee I can’t normally get, so I did a little research (read: I googled it) and found First Ascent Coffee Roasters. First Ascent only roasts in small batches, claiming a laser-focus on high quality. My sister-in-law brought back two of their coffees: the Ethiopian coffee I’m drinking now and one from Columbia. Expect some notes on the latter in an upcoming post.
This coffee comes from the Yirga Cheffe region of Ethiopia, world famous for delicious coffee. I’ve enjoyed many a good coffee from this part of the world. This particular coffee has a distinct lemongrass flavor - I taste it more so than the “raspberry jam” or “juice” also noted on the label. They offer coffee subscriptions, and with Valentine’s Day coming up in a few days I might start dropping hints… like linking to this post.
